| WHO IS A FATHER?
by Evelyn Heinz A FATHER IS someone who reads difficult blueprints but has a hard time deciphering the instruction sheet for a backyard swing set. A FATHER IS someone who is a great fix-it-man, but mom has to find his screwdriver, before he can fix something. A FATHER IS someone who gets tears in his eyes at the sight of his little girl in her wedding dress. A FATHER IS someone who doesn't watch his son back out of the driveway in his new car. A FATHER IS someone who doesn't keep tally sheet on what he spends for ice cream, bubblegum, braces, birthday presents, gym shoes or lost mittens. A FATHER IS someone who puts his paper down to tie a shoe or wipe a little nose. A FATHER IS someone who on his day off can be found playing with the kids, mowing the lawn or walking miles at the Zoo. A FATHER IS someone to hold you up if you can't see the parade going by. A FATHER IS someone who doesn't mind reverse the charge phone calls when we call from college. ABOVE ALL, A FATHER IS A MAN who loves his children unconditionally, and works daily for his family knowing all the while his only reward is a hug, a kiss, or just a "Hi Daddy" at the end of a day. |
| Thank You Evelyn for allowing me to use your poem.. You are great friend, and a good poet.. |
