| Reflections of a Granddad While trav'lin' through this life I've seen a lot of wondrous things Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls and wild geese on the wing Been from Canada to Mexico and East to West Coast too; Seen lofty snow-capped mountain peaks, and the rainbow's brilliant hue. I've seen a lot and done a lot, through good and bad times too And if I had it to do over, ain't much changin' that I'd do But of all the things I've seen and done, what makes my heart most glad Are two little words from two little girls, when they say, "Hello, Papa!" Just tiny babies yesterday, they're now past nineteen and five And when they happen by our place, this old house comes alive! One's eyes are deepest dark brown, the other's eyes are green And you never saw such energy from girls,. One has golden yellow hair and the other dark brown that glistens in the sun And little legs that never tire; they were always on the run Playing with their dolls, their building blocks, get out their story books Watch TV just a little while, and help their Grandmom cook. It's amazin' to watch and listen, to all they do and say And how a too short visit can so brighten up the day. But of all the things they say and do, what makes my heart most glad; Are two little words from two little girls, when they say, "Hello, Papa!" |
