Child of Mine
"I'll lend you a little time, a child of Mine," he said;
"For you to love while he lives, and mourn for him, when
he's dead. It maybe six, or seven years or nineteen or twenty years.
But will you , till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief,
You'll have these lovely memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return, but there
are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.

But will you give him all your love, and not think the labor vain, nor
hate me when I come to call to take him back again? I fancied
that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, thy will be done, for all the joy thy
child shall bring, the risk of grief we'll take.. We'll shelter him with tenderness,
we'll love him while we may, and for the happiness we've known, forever
grateful we'll be.. But should the angels call for him much sooner than we'd planned,
we'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand."

Toboggan Mishap claims life of young actor
Nineteen-year-old Edward Coady was popular, outgoing and talented. Friends say
his success as an actor or comedian seemed certain.
His future died with him Saturday night. Coady was among a part of more than a
dozen friends from Ridgemont High School who were tobogganing at Green Creek near
Bearbrook and Montreal roads in Gloucester.
He was nearing the end of a fast run when he crashed into a 17-year-old woman who was
picking up her sled, said Gloucester police Sgt. Sean O’Carroll. The woman was not seriously injured.
Coady was pronounced dead on arrival at the Ottawa General Hospital about 10 pm. The results
of an autopsy have not been released but it’s believed his neck was broken in the collision.
“He was a great young man with incredible energy and commitment to the theatre,” said
Leslie McDiarmid, former director of Insight Theatre. Coady loved acting.
Two years ago, Coady was a member of the troupe of teenage actors that presented skits
about the real-life dilemmas facing youths.
“I got to know him well because he was the one kid who never missed a show in the entire
year, and we did about 45 shows,”McDiarmid said.
“His greatest attribute was that he had more energy in his little finger than most of us have
in our entire bodies.”
For his final year of high school, Coady transferred from Canterbury to Ridgemont where
he was active in drama and well known as a stand-up comedian.
Friend and fellow Insight Member Neal Hall said Coady was always joking.
“I think he could have made it as a comedian, he really was hilarious.”
Coady also appeared this year as a panelist on “Lifetalk”. A talk show for teenagers
produced by CJOH television.
Coady lived with his widowed mother Jacqueline on Albion Road in Ottawa.
There will be visiting at Kelly’s Funeral Home, 1255 Walkley Rd., tonight
From 7pm to 10 pm.
A funeral is being planned for Tuesday morning.

The results of the autopsy revealed his heart's left
ventricle was torn...he died on the hill.
His birthday was Sept 27...
Eddie would have been 32 years old today.

The loss of a loved one leaves us with a sorrow only those who have faced a loss can
comprehend - ahh, but the loss of a child - that is a loss only felt by a parent and to some
degree probably more by a mother.  I dedicate this page to my son Eddie.   One who has
been here for me during his short lifetime, sharing a common bond - an emotion felt by joyhood
of giving birth to the sorrow of letting a child go whose time came too soon.  He's been here for
me, with me when I needed a friend, a shoulder, a confidante, or just a good laugh.  My love and
appreciation will always be with you Eddie and I thank you for your love, strength and the things
you taught me...  It was such a pleasure having a son like you Eddie.  You would smile really big
if you knew how much I miss your jokes and clowning around.  You were so loved by all who knew you.
Eddie, always remember your mom loves you and you are never far from my heart and soul.
I am a better person because of you!
I miss you more than anyone could possibly know.
