| Can We Talk
With tear filled eyes I stare at the floor. I know nothing's there, for I've been there before. I search for a friend, so I go for a walk. But they all turn away when I ask, Can we talk? Now Lord I turn to you, on your name I will call. Please hear what I say, it won't take long at all. While others won't hear me, you'll know what I say. Like your Father heard from the cross that day. Can we talk about heaven, where you wait for me? Can we talk about Calvary, where you died on the tree? You heard people curse, yet the hill you still walked. Still for those who cursed you, to your Father you talked. "Father forgive," were the words you would say. And "It's for you I'm nailed to the cross today. I knew this hill would be the last I walked, And to you my child I say, "Yes, to me you can talk." Can we talk about heaven, were you wait for me? Can we talk about Calvary, where you died on the tree? You heard people curse, yet the hill you still walked. Still for those who cursed you, to your Father you talked. Still for those who cursed you, to your Father you talked Can we talk, can we talk? |
