| There's an open gate at the end of the road
Through which each must go alone. And there in a light we cannot see Our father claims his own. Beyond the gate your loved ones find happiness and rest. And there is comfort in the thought That a loving God Knows Best. Written by Jackie Penney In the days after Daddy died, Mom and I talked a lot about things, things in the past. I had a sister born Jan. 7th 1952 and died at birth and Mom because she was so sick never got to see her or hold her, and we talked about Daddy holding Donna Jean in his arms. I really believe in the early morning hours of Nov. 18, 2004 in that intensive care room, Daddy and Donna Jean came to walk Mom home. I know both her and Dad are now at peace. They were married for 54 years and they truly had a love story. They dated 2 weeks before they married. We buried them 20 days apart. Their death has left a hole in our families and in all our hearts. The above poem, I found when I was going through pictures right after Mom died. I had written it when I was about 14 and Mom had saved it all those years. Mom I love you and Miss you and Daddy so very much. Both of you rest now in the knowledge that you have left behind, 3 children, 6 Grandchildren, 2 grand daughter -in-laws and 5 great grandchildren. that will never forget you and your love for you family. |
| We lost our precious Mom Nov, 18, 2004, 20 days after losing Daddy |
| the above poem I wrote when I was about 14 and Mom had saved it. I ran across it looking through things right after her Death and so I read it along with what I had also said above. The song is one we had played at the funeral. |
